HELP
If you are having problems with installing MokBee Maps on your phone or you can't seem to figure out how to use MokBee Maps, you can check the Frequently Asked Questions area or email us your enquiry via the contact us tab.
1.1 MokBee Maps Menus
The phone’s left soft key is used to access the main menu. The phone’s right soft key is used to enter the "Find Place" sub menu or clear all menus and return to map directly.
1.2 Panning
When browsing a map the direction keys can be used to pan up, down, left and right. Note Panning is only activated if there are no menus visible.
1.3 Zooming
To zoom in press the [#] key. To zoom out press the [*] key. Note zooming is only activated if there are no menus visible.
1.4 Where am I?
The Menu >Where am I? option centres the map on your current location using the satelite Global Positioning System (GPS). If you have not enabled GPS you will be invited to do so. On starting up the Mokbee application or clicking "Where am I?" menu item the phone will initiate an attempt to locate itself via the GPS hardware provided the GPS is or has been enabled in a previous session. If satellite connects cannot be established (e.g. you are inside a building) then the map centres on you last known position.
1.5 Find Place
The Menu > Find Place option goes to the following sub menu
- Find address
- Quick Search
- Advanced Search
- Favorites
- Search Settings
When a search returns a list of results the [1] and [3] keys can be used to go forwards and backwards through the list of results displayed as bubbles on the map. The [0] key displays more details on the current Bubble listed on the map.
1.5.1 Quick Search
You can use the Menu Find Place > Quick Search option to perform some preset searches for Bars, Pubs, Restaurants, Cinemas, Hotels and Cafes.
1.5.2 Advanced Search
You can use the Menu > Find Place > Advanced Search option to perform a contex sensitive search of the Business Directories that the user has activated based on the options auto discovered at start up.
1.5.3 Search Results
The Search Results displays all your lists of previous searches done in this session until you "Clear Search Results".
1.5.4 Clear Search Results
The Menu > Search Results > Clear Search Results option removes all search results from the map.
1.6 Favourites
Favourites are points of interest and map locations which you have saved and which you can access through Favourites on the main menu. On start up some default cities around the world are loaded into favorites.
1.7 Global Positioning System (GPS)
GPS can be turned on or off through Tools > Enable GPS. The Phone (handset) must support GPS via internal hardware for it to be enabled.
1.7.1 GPS Follow
The option under Menu > Tools > Enable GPS activates the phone GPS hardware interface and attempts to get a satellite generated coordinate location. If a GPS connection is established the GPS icon goes blue , if not it stays red. If it is blue and the map cross hairs are aligned with the blue blinking icon then your current location will always be centred on the map as you move around. Sometimes the cross hairs get out of sync with the blue blinking dot, if this happens the blue blinking dot still moves when the phone moves but will not stay centred and may disapear off the edge of your current map. To re-sync just manually move the cross hairs to the blue blinking dot and they will snap togather restoring the map centering function. A fast way the re-sync is to go to the option under menu > Where am I? and press this.
1.7.2 GPS Tracking
Under Menu > Tools > Tracking there is a sub menu that allows you to enable "Web Tracking" and/or "Start Tracking Trace". The Web Tracking uploads your path to the MokBee Maps website where you can view it to see where you have been. For privacy reasons you must have a Mokbee account/password. Visit mokbee.com to register and get an account. If you enable Start Tracking Trace and the GPS icon is blue then a blue trace of markers will be plotted in the map on your phone as you move around.
